The Cary-Grove Historical Society in McHenry County, Illinois,
was founded in 1996 by local residents who were concerned that the history
of this area was not being preserved for future generations. The Society
invites all residents of Cary, Fox River Grove, Trout Valley, Oakwood
Hills and others interested in discovering our exciting heritage.
At monthly meetings, local residents gather to share
the past and plan future events. Our Society sponsors community events
such as ice cream socials, historic walks and home tours.
We intend to document Cary-Grove area history by
interviewing local seniors, tracing family trees and researching all
aspects of our heritage.
Currently, the Society is seeking a permanent site
for a museum to exhibit documents, photographs and objects from the past.
Most important, our children will have a place to
learn about the area's history through hands on exhibits and special
education programs.
